THE NETWORK GATEWAY

SecoShield sensors can be installed at the connecting point of the outside and the inside of the network (if the firewall is installed in the network, SecoShield sensors can be installed inside or outside of the firewall). For the maximum performance, a full-duplex tapping device is recommended with three network cards (NICs). This supports 100mb ethernet full-duplex and gigabit interface that three network cards are needed be used as an inbound traffic monitoring, outbound traffic monitoring and response adapter against intrusion.

SINGLE
SENSOR TO MULTIPLE COLLISION DOMAINS |

Monitors all of the traffic from the required collision domains (single or multiple) in the network and therefore, intrusion detection can be available at both inside & outside of the network. If you wish to monitor N (number of collision domains) collision domains in the network with not much traffic (i.e. only one sensor is able to monitor all of domains in the network), N+1 network adapters (N for monitoring and 1 for communicating) are needed to be installed for the network monitoring. Each monitoring network adapter can be connected to each collision domain. For reference, one SecoShield sensor can monitor a maximum of 8 collision domains in the network.

If you wish to monitor N (number of collision domains) collision domains in the network, sensors need to be installed in each collision domain and the manager needs to be installed on more than one (i.e. two, three, etc) in the network. In this case, two network adapters need to be installed for each sensor (one for monitoring and one for communicating).
